The Hadleigh Practice was established in 1906 when
Dr J Norman came to Broadstone. He was joined by his two sons, Drs Dick and Bob
Norman. Dr J Norman was born in the village of Hadleigh in Suffolk and named his
home in Broadstone 'Hadleigh House'. After several moves the practice finally
stayed at No 20 Kirkway in 1979. In keeping with the tradition, our Corfe Mullen
surgery (built in 1996) was named 'Hadleigh Lodge'. The practice has grown steadily
from single-handed to the present 10 partners, with a corresponding increase in
employed and attached staff. Our approach is to combine traditional family care
with modern health
advances.
There is unhindered access and facilities at both our surgery buildings for all
our disabled patients. Please let our reception team know if you require any assistance
and they will be happy to oblige.

VAT
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) have announced that implementation of the VAT ruling on
Medical Services will take effect from 1st May 2007. It will not apply retrospectively. This means
that if the principal purpose of the medical service is the protection, maintenance or restoration
of an individual's health it will remain VAT exempt. Thus core medical services (whether provided
through the NHS or privately) remain free from VAT liability. Medical services which are primarily
for the purpose of enabling a third party to make a decision are liable to standard rate VAT
(currently 20%). If you have any questions about this matter please contact the Practice Manager, Moira Joy for more information.
